A Fourth of July Fundraiser

Ahh, a holiday, a day to sit back, relax and enjoy your friends and family and this fabulous country we live in! Happy 4th of July to all!

This 4th of July I have a very special family on my mind. I've introduced you to Ashlyn before, a little angel who reminds me so much of my little one. Ashlyn is just a little older than Chelsea, and these two girls have so much in common: Down syndrome, ornery brothers, acute myelogenous leukemia ... which they both underwent the same chemotherapy protocol - at the same time ...and of course they both have a family that loves them very much! We feel so very blessed that Chelsea is doing well and remains cancer free, but we are devastated that shortly after the girls celebrated one year post-cancer remission, Ashlyn's story took a very different path. While we thought Ashlyn had relapsed and her AML was back, she is actually battling a DIFFERENT type of leukemia, ALL.

This type of leukemia will have a much longer timeline - two years at least. Ashlyn's family has been through this before, and survived. I have no doubt they will beat it once again. It doesn't seem fair that one little girl, one family should have to do this again. But cancer is never fair.

Over the next two years the McFadden family will make numerous trips to the Children's Hospital, over an hour away. We watched the gas prices rise while we were in the hospital a year ago to over $4/gallon, we know the toll expenses like these can have on a family with a sick child. Because Ashlyn's family will have to make so many more trips to the hospital in the coming years we wanted to step in and try to help alleviate some of the financial stress.

I am calling you, my blog readers for help. We ran a very successful fundraiser before Chelsea's last round of chemo that allowed Ryan to take a week off of work and stay in the hospital with Chelsea and me. Again I want to run a mascara fundraiser with your help. The best part is almost EVERY WOMAN wears mascara!!! I know we all buy different brands, from drug stores to department stores, but I'm asking you to purchase your next mascara from me! As a Mary Kay consultant I am able to donate my profits straight to this family. For each mascara purchased $5 will go to the McFadden family to help offset the costs they will be enduring over the next two years. I have included a button at the top on the right side of the blog that will remain there for you to purchase your mascara. You can also purchase today right here:

Want to do something more? Write about the McFadden family on your blog and link to this page so your friends and family can help support Ashlyn! (Don't forget to leave a comment here so I can read your post!) Don't have a blog? That's okay, send an email to your friends and family and ask them to consider helping. You know women right? And do they wear mascara? ... I thought so!

10 mascaras = $50 - I'm sure they would be ever so grateful, but could you imagine ... 100 mascaras = $500!!! How exciting would that be?!!! Let's make this happen friends. Fundraiser runs through July 15, all mascara will be shipped between July 15-July 30. Get your orders in now!

I'll put a link on my blog for you since I'm the only woman in the world who does not wear mascara, it's the least I could do. It may not be until tomorrow that I get it done (I'm so tired) but I'll get it done! Great idea.
